Hazel Ketchum teaches MYC at Hungry Monk Music and is also the Assistant Coordinator for the Southeast.
Teachers interested in this program can contact Hazel and recieve a teacher packet with more information.

Singing together creates a special bond.

Keyboard playing and rhythm ensembles nurture team skills.

Creative movement develops individual expressiveness.

Music reading and theory are reinforced with group activities and with colorful, hands-on materials.

Parent participation:

Parent participation in the classroom is integral to the

Music For Young Children™ program. MYC™ allows

children to explore and develop their own strengths in a

varietyof musical areas. By being present, parents

become aware of their child’s learning styles, strengths,

and interests. Parents can serve as informed guides in

choosing further musical study. Many parents who have

participated as learning companions with their children,

have chosen to go on to further their own music study.

One option for them is our program for teens and adults.

MYC™ teachers:

Music for Young Children™ meet specific

piano performance and theory qualifications and receive

special program training. They provide a child centered musical

environment to facilitate development in all curriculum areas.

Our teachers are committed to parent evolvement and to

nurturing learning, children and families.

After the program:

Children completing the most advanced level of the

program are well-prepared to move into intermediate

piano studies. Many students pursue a second instrument

or choose to further their musical study in the areas of

music history, theory or composition.
